Discussion of new sockpuppeting evidence[edit]

Hey hold on one minute, you people said I was on probation and could edit agian, I never made any rule breakages whatsoever! I am prepared to be reasonable, but that is just stupid! You asked me to change my username because it was a little kind of provokative which I did, to 'Digenis Akritas' as I could not remember my p/w to NickOfCyprus account whihh was recommended to be used. Also I never made any disruptive edits! Check my contribution list. This is a gross disservice of justice. Oh, and the only reason i put that 14/88 thing up was to see what happened to me considering turk nationalists have equally provokative messages on their userpages about forming their 'Turan' and Grey Wolf and MHP slogans, I am not a nazi, why would any greek be a nazi? greece suffered more than britain or america under the nazis, remember this. What I do support however, is Greek Nationalism, this is different from nazism. Also, what is 'meatpuppeting' I genuinely had no idea that this kind of thing was not allowed. All it is 'canvassing' places (i.e. forums) for votes in a crucial vote. Is this against the rules?! --86.133.190.105 00:04, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • In due fairness, I confirm that it had been my own suggestion to GW that he should change his username ([1]), although it would of course have been appropriate to declare that change to Arbcom.
  • If GW was honestly under the mistaken impression that he was already free of his ban, I think Arbcom should take that into consideration. (Explanation to GW: you were not yet unbanned, the probation proposals had not yet been decided on; so right now it's still the old arrangement that you can edit only here on the Arbcom pages.) I must note that GW (86.133.190.105) has been editing also right today, after this incident.
  • Remains the vote canvassing and the nazi provocations. Yes, vote canvassing is forbidden by WP:SOCK and WP:SPAM. As for the "14/88", well, if you don't want to be seen for a nazi, don't throw around nazi symbols gratuitously. ("88" literally stands for "Heil Hitler".) And as for your argument that you were just doing it to expose what others were doing, that's exactly "disrupting Wikipedia to illustrate a point", at best.
  • An unrelated point: If Arbcom should finally let you off the hook, may I ask you to start sourcing your edits? I have no doubt your contributions to Greek culture topics are made in good faith and are generally solid, but it's difficult to judge their quality as virtually all of them have been unsourced so far.
