Inactive[edit]

This page is no longer used for the appointment of arbitration committee clerks. There is no formal application process for becoming an arbitration clerk. Interested editors should contact one of the current clerks about assisting with opening and closing cases, who will consult with the arbitrators. Pending tasks will be coordinated through the Clerks' noticeboard. After getting some experience opening and closing cases, if you are interested in an official appointment and are willing to make a small but steady committment of your time, the clerks will submit your name to the arbitration committee.

Clerks (accepted applications)[edit]

While I can honestly say I don't have anywhere close to the same experience as Phil when it comes to involvement in arbcom cases, I can also honestly state that I've tried my best to follow the operations of the arbcom. I think I have a decent (probably above average) grip on how it works, although I've only been a party to one arbcom case ever (the initial Everyking case). I've been helping out with the evidence and workshop pages on the latest cases on RFAR, and will continue to do so, regardless of whether I become a clerk. I have been involved in around a dozen arbitration cases, and am well familiar with the process and ith what the arbitrators find useful and not in a case. I've also been doing basically the functions of the clerks for the past week and a half already, having provided evidence summaries on three cases and a proposed decision on one. I've directly been involved only in a single arbitration case (a long while ago), although I do monitor the cases. I submitted my name for the advisory elections, with the primary complaint being my inexperiance, I think the clerk's office is "safe" enough to allow me to help there. Clerk Candidates[edit]

Deon555 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) - I dont really have any direct experience with The ArbCom, although being a clerk is more about cleaning, sorting etc.. And I don't think I do too badly there.. Daniel.Bryant (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) - I read a lot of ArbCom cases, and knows what goes on. I clerk at WP:RFCU and also organise a lot of other wikiprojects/wikigroups (WP:A-L, WP:MOTD etc.). I'm extremely active (8000 edits in just over three months), and can remain impartial on cue. I've presented evidence in a couple of cases so far, Internodeuser and DarrenRay/2006BC. I've got a decent amount of experience in wading through diffs and other material as someone casually involved in dispute resolution. FT2 ^{(Talk | email)} 20:03, 8 July 2006 (UTC) I've taken three cases to Arbcom starting with Ciz 2005 as well as a further one by email to user:Mackensen ("very persuasive"). I spend a lot of time cleaning up and refactoring "messy" or controversial stuff, it's one of my hobbies here, refactoring messy articles into neatly structured form, rewriting useful intro summaries where needed, and so on. Refactoring work in the project namespace has included the stable formats of WP:ABOUT, WP:NPOV, WP:RFC intro and several others (diffs on user page). I'm still learning a lot of things, but this seems a corner which needs doing and would be muchly enjoyable. I'd be helping out elsewhere too, though.[reply]

I'll put my name here too. I think the ArbCom knows who I am; I've commented on a couple of recent and pending cases (though never been a named participant in any and hope never to be) and on a couple of ArbCom policy and procedure matters, have been working to organize the rejected cases page, etc. I think that with FloNight becoming quite active as a clerk, a couple of others also on the active list, and now Thatcher131 also getting involved, there probably isn't a need for another clerk at this moment, but I invite the committee to call on me if needs change or in the event there's a need in a particular case owing to recusals or whatever. By the way, does the description of clerks' duties on Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Clerks need to be updated? To the best of my knowledge, at least since I've been active (late June), the clerks have not been summarizing evidence or helping to write decisions as it says on the description written when the clerks' office was first being formed.
