Oppose: Salem metropolitan area (India) is a jurisdiction or the areas which is officially recognised or notified as Salem metropolitan area. Meanwhile, Salem Urban Development Authority is a seperate Authority or Body that governs the area. For instance, you can also refer the articles, Chennai metropolitan area & Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority for Greater Chennai, Coimbatore metropolitan area & Coimbatore Urban Development Authority for Coimbatore, Hyderabad Metropolitan Region & Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority for Hyderabad.

So, kindly go through it, Metropolitan Area & Metropolitan Development Authority is different from each other.

The rule is we don’t fork content, so if information is already in one article we don’t recreate it in another. The only reason to split info out from an existing article is to significantly expand it, which this one doesn’t. So, instead of nominating for deletion, you can tag the article as "need improvement". That may help to develop articles with additional informations. Visitors also can add some information with thier knowledge. But, still, I can't understand, what additional contents you had seen in the articles like Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority and Chennai Metropolitan Area. There are 100 municipal corporations, 2100 Nagar Panchayats, and 1500 municipal councils in India1

Ofcourse, 100 Municipal Corporation, 2100 Nagar Panchayats and 1500 municipal councils. But here, it is not Municipal Corporation or Nagar Panchayat or Municipal Council. It is Urban Development Authority. Not all those you have mentioned will not have such authority. Wikipedia may offers visitors regarding specific topics. Strong delete. Troublingly, I can't find a single source which even mentions the existence of this, with the English or Tamil name (see this search), so clear violation of WP:NGO and WP:V. The section in the metropalitan area article also only cites sources about the passage of some law which doesn't mention the existence of this. Mach61 (talk) 03:42, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
