January 1 in India[edit]

I have several issues with this series of articles:

The articles have been split, without acknowledgement, from January 1, 2 and 3.
They increase the possibility that notable events in India will be noted in the "in India" articles and omitted from the main calendar articles.
They increase the possibility that non-notable events will be noted in the "in India" articles just to fill them out.
They increase the possibility that globally notable events will be overlooked by Indian users because they're only looking at the "in India" articles.
They represent a major new solo initiative which, if carried through, would involve the creation of more than twice as many articles as the editor has made edits in total over the last two years.
The initiative not been discussed with either of the obvious projects, Wikipedia:WikiProject Days of the year, and Wikipedia:WikiProject India.

The nominator mentions WP:Articles for deletion/February 7 in baseball; another relevant discussion is WP:Articles for deletion/July 29 in rail transport. In both cases, the decision was made to move these articles to Portal-space (see Portal:Baseball/Anniversaries and Portal:Trains/Anniversaries), and I think the same course of action is appropriate here. Portal:India/Anniversaries already exists, so I suggest these pages be merged with the relevant Portal page, and then deleted (to avoid leaving cross-space redirects). History merge per the nominator's detailed reasoning against these article splits.
That is,
1. History merge January 1 in India and Portal:India/Anniversaries/January/January 1
2. History merge January 2 in India and Portal:India/Anniversaries/January/January 2
3. History merge January 3 in India and Portal:India/Anniversaries/January/January 3
Delete the cross-namespace redirects.
