My "mess"[edit]

If you have an issue with the edits I am making to some of these Eurovision articles, then please say it directly to me and not through this passive-aggressive comments you're leaving in the edit summaries. Many of the edits I have been made have been agreed on a Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision level, and while I may make the odd mistake or two I don't think that justifies this aggression when all I am trying to do is improve the readability and structure of these articles. If you have a larger issue with the stuff that I am doing, then please do raise it through the usual arbitration and complaint channels (e.g. the WikiProject talk page) instead of continuing to just shout into the aether. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 17:27, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Tom, I see that you may disagree with some of Sim's changes, but please know that these changes are what the project wants per the consensus on the talk page. If you continue to go against this consensus without making a civil attempt to communicate about why you disagree with these changes, we'll have to seek the help of an admin. Christmas Barnstar[edit]

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I've seen you spending quite some time putting together the voting tables on the Junior Eurovision participation articles, and since that looks like a very tedious job to me I thought I'd give you an award for it. Merry Christmas! ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 00:00, 25 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

San Marino 2023[edit]

It might be helpful to look over WP:CRYSTAL. Even though San Marino says they want to use the same selection next year, the main problem is that right now no contest for 2023 has been announced. The broadcaster can't make that claim on their own that something outside of their control will take place. Grk1011 (talk) 23:43, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Logged out editing / sockpuppetry[edit]

Hi. Have you accidentally been making logged-out edits? Because there is an IP address that looks an awful lot like it's you, and if it is then it absolutely violates Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry. To avoid being blocked, I recommend that you contact an admin about this. ―Jochem van Hees (talk) 14:52, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, this absolutely is not me and I will contact admin immediately. Thanks for letting me know. ―Tomls10 (talk) 16:04, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Armenia in Eurovision 2003[edit]

I would quite like to understand how exactly I am "grasping at straws" for following Wikipedia's guidelines? By its very nature, inferring something from a source to draw a conclusion that isn't immediately present within that source counts as original research, something which is against the basic tenets of Wikipedia. While you may be correct that AMPTV was the broadcaster that provided coverage of Eurovision 2003 in Armenia, the sources currently provided on the article are not enough to include the broadcaster in the table, because they do not mention that broadcaster specifically as having shown the event, only vague references to "the Armenian broadcaster", that the show was being broadcast in Armenia etc. Please read through WP:OR and WP:SYNTHESIS specifically so that you can understand where I'm coming from.

If there are new sources added that specifically mention the contest as being broadcast on a channel supplied by AMPTV, then of course it can be included. Armenia is already mentioned within the prose paragraph at the top of the section in particular, since we know that sources tell us the contest was broadcast in that country, however the tables should only contain specific information on the broadcasters, channels and commentators that are supported by reliable sources in order to establish verifiability. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 01:20, 2 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

EMA Freš 2022 songwriter credits[edit]

Hi Tom! Just like you, I'm a big Eurovision fan myself. As a combination of passions of mine, I've been spending a lot of my free time the past 8 months to create a database of songwriting credits for Eurovision national selection entries. It is a carefully curated one, so I don't necessarily copy-paste what's on Wikipedia (which I have found to be erroneous at times). I cross-check what's on here, broadcaster websites, publicly available music databases, etc. I noticed that you filled in all songwriting credits for EMA Freš 2022 on the Slovenia 2022 page. However, RTVSLO has only released songwriting credits for the entries that made it to the EMA Freš liveshows. Would you mind letting me know where you got the credits for other songs (e.g., for Ella – "A sem dovolj?")? I've tried scouring social media pages, the SOKOJ database, and other places where I usually would be able to find this information, but Wikipedia is the only source that has these songwriters listed. It'd massively help me! Thank you in advance. Jktemporary (talk) 19:02, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

France in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest revert[edit]

Hi. I was wondering why did you revert this edit. Mazewaxie (talkcontribs) 14:48, 6 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Slovenia Eurovision articles[edit]

Hi, Tom! I thank you for your dedication in expanding the articles regarding Slovenian participations in Eurovision, but I believe much of the info you provided (e.g. at Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 – including the Promotion section, which I have hidden, and your latest addition of details on the music video) belong in the articles about the songs and have little relevance to the Slovenian participations themselves. Moreover, it does not seem to be established practice in the articles for other countries. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 17:14, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, thanks for letting me know! Personally, i would disagree and I believe the music video to be a prevalent part of the Eurovision process. It can also be seen in other articles such as Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 among others. As such, I contest your point. Thanks Tomls10 (talk) 18:11, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your latest revert has been pretty confrontational. Please try to cooperate in the spirit of this encyclopedia if another editor disagrees, since I could say the same about you trying to “dictate” the content of the Slovenia article. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:08, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is a difference between trying to make constructive edits to further support information in the article and then just trying to destroy and dictate other editor's work. I do not understand your decision to hide the promotion section and your reasoning was utterly baffling to me. As far as I am concerned, the removal of valid references from an article is counter-productive and, from a constructive editor's perspective, incredibly irritating. Also, I am telling you not to brand me as 'confrontational'. To quote you, I guess I could call you confrontational given what you have just said on my talk page. In future, please edit constructively with understandable reasoning. Tomls10 (talk) 14:12, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don’t agree that my edits destroyed any of your work, which I even thanked you for; again, everything I have done was aimed at having the same kind of content of other 2024 articles and I simply don’t think all that information really belongs there. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:19, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of removing valuable information to the detriment of the article in question, maybe consider enhancing other country articles. Tomls10 (talk) 14:21, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I already explained why I did not “enhance” other country articles on this matter. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:23, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also find you incredibly intimidating and you don't seem to bring much in terms of constructive editing, especially in Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. Instead of making valued additions to expand detail, you appear to un-constructively critic valuable edits. I actually feel so intimidated to the point that I feel almost 'beaten into submission' in terms of what I think can and should be added. To put it in simple terms, you appear to be a 'nit-picker' rather than an approachable and constructive member of the Wikipedia community. Tomls10 (talk) 14:19, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, please also try not to fall into WP:ASPERSIONS or WP:PA. Thanks. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:27, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I have stated and, as you have ignored, I find you to be a rude and dictatorial member of the wikipedia community. An apology for your attitude wouldn't go a miss and I apologise if I have offended you in any way. I do, however, feel offended and restricted by you to make valuable edits. Tomls10 (talk) 14:32, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am also sorry if this is the impression I gave off as I don’t want to discourage anyone from improving the project, however I felt your conclusions were a bit rushed. Considering our disagreement, I think the best thing to do is to open a discussion on the content of the article for other users to chime in. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 14:45, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve made the discussion you asked. —Dimsar01 Talk ⌚→ 20:44, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
