I have adjusted the article to reflect your concerns at Sergei Prokofiev. In line with your request, I will set the example in mentioning politely, without the threat of a block to your editing, that Prokofiev was born and raised as a child in east Russian speaking Ukraine. He later moved as a young adult to other parts of the Russian Empire. Hopefully this clears up the confusion. 2A00:23C5:DA1D:9301:89D1:E457:E7B1:C29E (talk) 23:12, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you care to look over the repeated discussion of this theme at the talk page, Prokofiev was neither an ethnic Ukrainian nor a citizen of the Ukraine, which at the time was an internationally recognized integral constituent of the Russian Empire. As cited on the talk page, extant evidence shows that not only did neither he nor his family regarded themselves as "Ukrainian," but there is apparently no evidence that suggests any of them spoke Ukrainian. He was repeatedly referred to as Russian by colleagues and the public. He continues to be regarded as Russian and a representative of Russian music by academics working in the West like Simon Morrison, Marina Frolova-Walker, et al. By your logic, Immanuel Kant ought to be regarded a "Russian," Otto Klemperer a "Pole," Giuseppe Garibaldi "French," and so on. Unless you can provide evidence that Prokofiev was a citizen of an independent Ukraine and that he himself believed to be Ukrainian, your edit-warring is unhelpful. —CurryTime7-24 (talk) 23:44, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
