Ram Shepherd, who now refers to himself symbolically as Bheenaveni Ram Shepherd, (born 29 September 1982) is Assistant Professor, writer and activist.[1] He writes in both English and Telugu.[2].

Early life[edit]

Ram Shepherd was born in the village of Ramchandrapuram is widely known as Urumadla in oral history , Siddipet district in [Telangana State]]. His family belonged to the sheep-grazing Gollakuruma caste, a community designated by the Government of India as an Other Backward Class group. It is part of Ahirs of Central India, Dhangars of Maharastra and Yadavs at Pan-India level.

Professional life[edit]

Ram Shepherd received an M.A. degree in Sociology from Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University and an M.Phil., awarded for his study on Social Beliefs and Cultural Practices in Health and Disease. He has been a recipient a Ph.D on the basis of his work entitled Indigenous Medicinal Practices in Rural Telangana.


Currently, Ram Shepherd is serving as Chairman, Board of Studies in Sociology and Social Work at Osmania University in Hyderabad.
