Ookie Panda is an online identity. She is recognized most by her white hair and black pigtails resembling a panda and excessive use of the emoticon, "owo". Though numerous accounts are owned with this name, she is most notable for her appearance within the RPG Maker VX.net Community, even being promoted to a staff position there as of March 21st, 2010.

Character[edit]

Ookie Panda is a young teenage girl with white hair and black pigtails. She is also know to dress in a particular gothic lolita style dress. Though before her membership within the RPG Maker VX.net Community, she had no definite personality, she is currently known as a hyper, happy, and overly friendly girl that gives hugs and friendship easily.

Mannerisms[edit]

Most prominent in Internet Relay Chat channels, Ookie Panda has made herself known for many behaviors that are considered either cute or irritating by others. For a short time, whenever a new member entered the channel, she would make it a point to glomp them. Other "ookie-like" behaviors include falling from the sky, flapping arms, sitting on the floor and waiting like a good little girl, tugging on people's sleeves, speaking similar to lolcats, throwing things out the window and waving at them as they go, and more.

Words and Emoticons[edit]

Along with her mannerisms, Ookie Panda has associated herself with frequent words, phrases, and emoticons that she uses. Many users of the Internet Relay Chat channels could mimic her easily with these:

  • owo - An emoticon with big eyes and a cat mouth.
  • . w . - See "owo", but with smaller eyes.
  • uwu - Another emoticon with lowered/closed eyes and a cat mouth.
  • onaise (oh-nahys) - A wrong way to spell "oh nice". Also has variations "sonaise"(soh-nahys) and "verinaise"(ver-ee-nahys) which is "so nice" and "very nice".
  • jerk fayse (jurk feys) - An insult to someone who isn't being kind.
  • huggle (huhg-uhl) - A form of hugging. A hug.

Creation and Conception[edit]

The first appearance of Ookie Panda on Myspace.com

The Ookie Panda persona, owned exclusively by the same person, first appeared with the name on Myspace.com June 10th, 2007. In a roleplaying sense, the character was initially created with no defined personality. Her role and characteristics were manipulated to fit each game, giving Ookie Panda only a name and physical traits, but no associated behavior. Since then, linked accounts on YouTube, GaiaOnline, and of course, the RPG Maker VX.net Community were created.

To her own account, Ookie Panda has reported to have come up with the character from an old panda doll named Ookie that her sibling owned. To bribe her out of crying, the said sibling would let her hold the Ookie doll, and this was a means of comfort to her. Interestingly enough, the doll itself was defined by its owner as a male, not a female!

Appearances[edit]

Ookie Panda's first account was on Myspace.com for roleplaying and social purposes, and still exists today, though her activity is virtually non-existent. On October 12th, 2007, she appeared on YouTube as JenayOokieYay (the name OokiePanda was taken by an unknown person in January 2009). Here she posted anime music videos, personal videos with messages for friends, and one live video of the female herself that was soon removed. On July 1st, 2008, a GaiaOnline account was opened under the name of Ookie Panda, which was also for roleplaying and social purposes.

And Ookie Panda's most recognized account on RPG Maker VX.net was created August 26th, 2009. The website, built around a game-making software by Enterbrain, owned an Internet Relay Chat channel that Ookie Panda soon joined and began to build her image. It was only a matter of time before her popularity increased and was soon accepted into the staff as a writer of their bi-weekly newsletter, the V.X. Club.

Today, Ookie Panda owns her own Blogger.com blog, a Forumotion social forum, and a Facebook public figure page, which she runs independently. Any other accounts are either unverified as to whether Ookie Panda owns them or not, or the site has not come to know her persona enough, or at all, for it to be listed.
