If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.
Technical requests[edit]
Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]
- Mughal emperors (currently a redirect to List of emperors of the Mughal Empire) → List of emperors of the Mughal Empire – This is a list article. Consistency with similar articles such as List of emperors of the Tang dynasty (not Tang emperors, List of emperors of the Qing dynasty (not Qing emperors), List of sultans of the Ottoman Empire (not Ottoman sultans), List of sultans of the Seljuk Empire (not Seljuk sultans) etc. Awan Ali Abbas (talk) 21:40, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Bathysauroides gigas (currently a redirect to Bathysauroides) → Bathysauroides – Move monotypic taxon from species page to page that just has genus as title, as per WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA Geekgecko (talk) 19:26, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Latropiscis purpurissatus (currently a redirect to Latropiscis) → Latropiscis – Move monotypic taxon from species page to page that just has genus as title, as per WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA Geekgecko (talk) 19:26, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Brian Deegan (motorcyclist) (currently a redirect to Brian Deegan) → Brian Deegan – perform requested move Dantus21 (talk) 21:53, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
- Factitious dermatitis (currently a redirect to Dermatitis artefacta) → Dermatitis artefacta – The ICD11 uses the term Dermatitis artefacta under Artefactual skin disorder[1] CursedWithTheAbilityToDoTheMath (talk) 22:06, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]
Contested technical requests[edit]
- University of St. Michael's College → St. Michael's College, Toronto (currently a redirect back to University of St. Michael's College) – consensus at Talk:Trinity_College,_Toronto#Requested_move was for this format Carolynparrishfan (talk) 19:22, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
- This was moved in 2012 then reverted by AndrewNJ in 2018. QueenofHearts 00:52, 26 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Carolynparrishfan: Since this move was previously reverted (and since this article wasn't included in the other requested move discussion), there will need to be a new RM discussion, which you can open the discussion by pressing "discuss" on your request. - OK, I'm a little out of my depth here with the technicalities (I don't spend much time outside the mainspace). It said this was the place where redirects that couldn't be done manually should go. It seems like the two articles were renamed in opposite "directions." Whether this one or the Trinity one move back (and FWIW I opposed the Trinity renaming) would seem to matter less than picking one style and sticking with it. - Chinna Marumagal (2024 TV series) (currently a redirect to Chinna Marumagal (TV series)) → Chinna Marumagal (TV series) – unnecessary extension 103.42.163.157 (talk) 15:59, 27 January 2024 (UTC)
- It looks like a Tamil dub of Chotti Bahu (2008 TV series) was released under this title by Zee Tamil. See YouTube (Zee Tamil). SilverLocust 🃏 💬 02:01, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- Cheick Diabate (footballer, born 2002) → Cheick Diabaté (footballer, born 2002) – Article's subject has an acute accent on the last 'e' in their surname. This is evidenced by the person's Twitter name (with the account referred to by the official Twitter account of his current team) and coverage by the BBC. See: (1) @C_Diabate50 (January 8, 2024). "Thanks to everyone who voted❤️🤍@OfficialECFC" (Tweet) – via Twitter.; and (2) Birkett, Andrew; Segal, Andrew (29 March 2023). "Ramadan: Exeter footballer describes training during fasting". - Sources in the article appear not to have the accent. Bensci54 (talk) 05:48, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- There's one typo for the photo underneath the title (Diabase), which is obviously incorrect. All other instances show 'Diabaté'. Domeditrix (talk) 11:14, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Domeditrix: "Sources in the article" meaning in Cheick Diabate (footballer, born 2002)#References, not the BBC article. SilverLocust 🃏 💬 11:54, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
