Kim Ji-soo (Korean: 김지수; born (1995-01-03)January 3, 1995), better known by the mononym Jisoo, is a South Korean singer and actress. She is a member of South Korean girl group Black Pink,[2] where she is a vocalist.[3] Since February 5, 2017, she has been one of the hosts of SBS's Inkigayo with Got7's Park Jin-young and NCT's Kim Dong-young.[4]

Career[edit]

1995–2016: Early life and career beginnings[edit]

Jisoo was born on January 3, 1995 in Seoul, South Korea.

Jisoo entered YG Entertainment as a trainee in July 2011, and she was first introduced to the public on May 4, 2012, when a black-and-white photo of Jisoo was released without identifying her name.[5] Two more pictures of Jisoo were released on January 15 and January 19, 2013, and at the same time Jisoo's name and birth year were confirmed.[6][7] At the end of 2014 Jisoo was featured in the music videos for "Spoiler" (스포일러) + "Happy Ending" (헤픈엔딩) and "I'm Different" (나는 달라) by labelmates Epik High and Hi Suhyun, respectively.[8][9] In 2015, Jisoo made a cameo in The Producers along with Sandara Park.[10] In the same year, Jisoo became an endorser for Nikon and the role-playing game Angel Stone,[11][12] with Lee Min-ho became an endorser for Samsonite,[13] and with iKon became an endorser for the school uniform brand Smart.[14] In early 2016, Jisoo iKon became promotional models for LG's new smartphones.[15]

2016–present: Black Pink[edit]

YG Entertainment announced on June 15, 2016 that Jisoo would debut as a member of the agency's upcoming girl group and released a number of teaser photos of Jisoo.[2] Jisoo was the third member to be confirmed after Jennie and Lisa and before Rosé, and the four-member group's name was revealed to be Black Pink on June 29.[16] Jisoo was introduced as an allrounder, talented in singing, acting, and dancing.[17] A clip of Jisoo and the other members of Black Pink dancing to Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money" was released on July 5 on the group's official YouTube channel,[18] and on July 29 YG Entertainment confirmed that the group was slated to debut on August 8, 2016.[19]

On August 8, 2016, Jisoo debuted as a member of Black Pink. In December 16, 2016, Jisoo and her fellow mates "Rosé" set to make their first appearance On "Radio Star". In February 5, 2017, Jisoo hosted the music show Inkigayo with singer Park Jin-young and Kim Dong-young.
