Piano versions[edit]

The 'Recordings' section doesn't mention any - much less any critics' choices - for violin and piano. Does anyone have sources? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 22:45, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not me, alas. I'll keep an eye open for any. Tim riley talk 22:57, 12 September 2020 (UTC) And now found (a listing, not a critical recommendation). I'll add details tomorrow. Tim riley talk 23:01, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And now done. Tim riley talk 09:22, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Keys and modes[edit]

The analysis says rather confidently that the violin theme is in G major, but to me it sounds as though it could just as well be in E minor (Aeolian). Myopic Bookworm (talk) 17:49, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm responsible for that wording. I based my description of the piece on the analyses by Howes and Kennedy, but I cannot pretend to any grasp on my own account of modes/keys, and if you are sure the printed score bears the interpretation you put on it, I for one will not demur if you add a few words to that effect. Tim riley talk 19:58, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have preferred, rather, to remove the explicit identification of the key. The later discussion says that the key of the piece is ambiguous, and that it has been analysed in terms of Dorian and Aeolian modes, but to add my own theory would seem inappropriate as "original research". Myopic Bookworm (talk) 23:06, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That looks fine, I think. Unless others demur I think we can leave it at that. Many thanks for your informed intervention. Tim riley talk 23:38, 12 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Vocal version with lyrics[edit]

To add to article: an English choir has just performed an arrangement that integrates vocals (singing Meredith's poem). link 173.88.246.138 (talk) 21:02, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure a one-off rearrangement is notable enough for mention in the main text of the article. What do other editors think? Tim riley talk 21:07, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
