Close cities?[edit]

These cities in Japan are related to Obama, as "land of foods".

I have no idea what this even means. Could someone clarify this section? -Amake (talk) 04:42, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I guess ja:御食国 may help understanding the author's intention, but anyway I replaced the section with a list of sister/friendship cities. --Sushiya (talk) 00:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Obama drama?[edit]

The Reuters story Japan's Obama towns dances for U.S. namesake mentions that "the town is already known in Japan as the site of a popular TV drama"; if that's true, it would be nice to mention it here.

I think it's an NHK series, FWIW.

The NHK TV serial is ちりとてちん if someone wants to add a mention to the article. --DAJF (talk) 11:24, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Named after president?[edit]

Heard it was named after Barack Obama. If this is true, needs to be in article.76.253.50.238 (talk) 01:09, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's not true. The town was around long before Obama was born. Hundreds of years before. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 02:08, 10 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
