Skating vs skiing[edit]

It is a popular misconception that Nordic Cross Skating resembles inline skating or even Nordic blading. I am, therefore, in disagreement with the definition presented. Nordic skates have a greater distance between the front and rear wheels and therefore elicit an entirely different method of propulsion than do the methods required by the shorter wheel based inline skates or rollerblades. Inline skating and rollerblading technique is more congruent with rollerskating while nordic cross skating resembles skate skiing technique.

  • Yes, IMHO both the equipment and the technique tend to align with roller skiing rather than skating. However, I fail to see a gap between Nordic Cross Skating and Nordic Blading either. --Викидим (talk) 22:20, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
