Lyrics

that is so horrible wat ruthless records done to atban klann its good that the have peacefull lyrics not those normal rude lyrics its a change ruthless should off let them stay on!!!!!!!!!

(offensive line deleated)

I agree wtih what that reviewer said. Bland crap like BEP is killing music.

If you don't like it, don't listen to it. No one is forcing you too. Some people do like the BEP, and saying that the BEP are bland is just foolish. They're a dedicated group with great producers, and they've got connections with some of the most important people in Hip Hop, like Jazzy Jeff and DJ Premiere. You'd probably say the same thing about any other Hip Hop group, though, so it's pointless to argue.

Didn't the group change the lyrics from "let's get retarded" too let's get it started" because it was so ignorant and offensive? If so, i think wiki should mention it

The name change was only for the radio/tv versions, which is common for a lot of bands to get play on mainstream radio stations that don't play songs with swearing and offensive lyrics. --Clawed 03:51, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Peapod Foundation

Should it say something here about the Peapod Foundation? It's a live show they do every year, and the money goes to charity. MatthewWaller (talk) 19:33, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Macy Gray, Justin Timberlake

Please repair the page, it's been vandalised... Why the links to Macy Gray and Justin Timberlake? Anyone? --Mister Tattle 05:38, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Both Macy Gray and Justin Timberlake have collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas. Macy Gray did Request+Line with them in Bridging The Gap, and Justin Timberlake did Where is the Love? in Elephunk and My Style in Monkey Business

criticism on bottom of page

What's this?? A bland copy paste of what one reviewer said on another site isn't enough to prove derogatory criticism towards the BEP. And in the case you believe this review worthy enough to feature in the article, at least mention the source. I was very close to deleting the entire comment, but i'm waiting for any reactions. PrinceCharming 09:43, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

I did not post that comment here. While I dislike the editorial comment immediately following, I feel it is worth keeping the quoted statements in the article. I have read several reviews that have been entirely uncomplimentary to the Black Eyed Peas and I know many people have problems with their lyrics. I think it is worth keeping. --Yamla 14:46, 15 November 2005 (UTC)
The quote doesn't even have a citation. I'm removing it. --DropDeadGorgias [[User_talk:DropDeadGorgias|(talk)]] 17:57, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Pump It UK Release Date

The page said Pump It charted at #29 in the UK Singles Chart. Kinda hard considering it isn't released as a single here until 13th March!!

I added a little bit of info to the page devoted to Pump It - it debuted on the UK Downloads Chart this week at #26 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/downloads.shtml)

Hope that's all right........

I saw that it debuted at #29 on the R&B Charts a few weeks agoChan 18:02, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

I have uploaded the album cover for the iTunes Originals release, and below is a track listing. Jack Johnson?

Did I miss something? Why is there a link to Jack Johnson? I can understand the links to Macy Gray and Justin Timberlake (BEP collaberated with them on BEP's most popular singles), but there is no mention of Jack anywhere else on the article. --Acetic Acid 03:41, 23 July 2005 (UTC)

Jack Johnson appears on the new album, "Monkey Business". Jack performs in the song Get Gone.
Okay, that makes sense now. Thanks for clearing it up. --Ryan 03:56, July 27, 2005 (UTC)
Gone Going you mean? #1BEPFan 16:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Suggested Criticism

There are white supremacist bands that have a more positive overall message than the Black Eyed Peas. The objectification of women is especially disgusting because Stacy Ann "Fergie" Ferguson is the main voice behind it. A Google video search for BEP (and/or the word "slut") yields this. This group and its producers should be arrested. Haizum 08:57, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Are you suggesting text for the article? If so, what should the text say? "My Humps, a song by BEP, has been known to have inspired pre-teens to dance in a 'slutty' manner for home videos"? Please note the video underneath that one, in which the same group danced to a "Shakira" song with their shirts pulled up to bare their bellies. There's no accounting for pre-teens' behavior, and it's certainly not an actionable case against this band. It's a silly little song that's just as bad and just as harmless as most other stuff out there. And if you wanted to cleanse the music business of filthy or suggestive lyrics, you should have started LONG before this band. - Nhprman 23:09, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
Go shake your ass and chest in front of a pre-teen and see what happens to you. Haizum 22:43, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Then, before you are arrested, go ahead and ask if he/she has ever gotten anyone "love drunk" off of their "lumps" and/or "humps." Haizum 22:45, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
I don't understand this rant of yours. If you think this is, or ever has been, a group of Gospel singers, they aren't. And N'Sync, Frank Sinatra, Wham! and many many other bands have sung suggestive lyrics before the BEP's so you need to think this through. - Nhprman 23:45, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
It's mostly that I just hate them. Haizum 23:50, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
Really? You hide it so well. Anyway, it's all academic since POV statements are not allowed in Wikipedia articles. Nor is vandalism. - Nhprman 02:59, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
I guess you are immune to sarcasm. Haizum 04:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
Hardly, because I just hurled some back your way. - Nhprman 04:41, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
That wouldn't make a person any less immune, but a revealing fallacy nevertheless. Haizum 19:54, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
WOW! A "fallacy." You earned a point! Your comments are becoming arcane and bizarre. There's no "fallacy" here, bub. These kinds of conversations are why Wikipedia can be so very tiresome. Please find another hobby, away from this article if you hate it so much. - Nhprman 22:27, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[1 - 0] Thanks, good game. Haizum 01:11, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

The Picture

That picture is HORRIBLE!

Who the hell put that up? --68.110.21.142 17:14, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

Feel free to replace it. However, be very careful that you adhere to copyright and fair-use policies. That means the majority of the images you find will not be appropriate for the article. --Yamla 16:24, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree that is just really really bad!! asshole u are

Just a totally wrong pic. it doesn't even show all the members of the group. should be changed immediately

I don't like that picture either, you can't even tell what's happening in it. (are Apl and Fergie in a car with the band manager or something) I wish I could simply replace it, but I hate how you can only get the rights to put one one.

"personal" section

Can anybody cite references for it and edit it for tone? Otherwise, it ought to be removed... it reads more like gossip column than an encyclopedia entry. --Gar2chan 19:32, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Source?

"Before Fergi join the BEP, she hustled gay pornagraphy to adolescents." I removed this since it was obvious vandalism. Unless there's a source, leave it out. -RomeW 19:54, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

How is that obvious vandalism? She hustles porn today as a member of the BEP - what makes you think she hasn't acted similarly in the past? Haizum 00:59, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Links

I think to put the link of the ORIGINAL list of collaborations, bonus, remixes, etc.. is OK! ----->

Blogs are not appropriate either for external links or as sources, unless they are official. In this case, though, this page is not publicly accessible meaning that even if it is official, it is not appropriate here. --Yamla 16:07, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Questionable sentence

I removed the following sentence:

(despite being referred to by one reviewer as "the single most vacuous, pointless, vile and generally loathsome song in a generation[citation needed]")

Reason: I googled it and i was unable to find the actual person/reviwer who said it. All i found is "by one reviewer". I left the paragraph here because, who knows, maybe someday the author's name shows up quoted somewhere on the net. EOZyo (мѕğ) 23:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Albums

I have a question, why are there full info spots for Elephunk and Monkey Business, and nothing for Bridging the Gap or Behind the Front? They were a band before Fergie, you know.

I agree with this, especially as they were vastly more popular with the hiphop community before the release of Elephunk, rather than the pop community they seem so desprate to please now days. --Gangstadane 00:17, 28 November 2006

I fully agree, and maybe add something about how on those early albums, they were always going on about never ever ever going mainstream. --Jarno (2007/03/26; 8:30 CET) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.56.79.231 (talk) 06:28, 26 March 2007 (UTC).

Contradictory Information

Monkey Business was released in 2005 and "Pump It" wasn't released as a single until 2006 yet the article says "It was world renowed as "the most pimpin song eva" at the Freakshow Awards in 2003". Huh? which date is correct? Dr. Morbius 22:49, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

From Roots To Fruits

There has been a large amount of activity on the page about "From Roots To Fruits", is this vandalism? Can someone cite it? It seems common knowledge that a new album is on the way, can anyone find any info on it? --Ferdia O'Brien (The Archiver And The Vandal Watchman) 21:03, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

So far, not a single source has been provided. Based on this AfD, it doesn't look like From Roots to Fruits will be the title. ShadowHalo 23:20, 13 May 2007 (UTC)

Mas Que Nada

Why is this single with Sergio Mendes, which is a big hit down here (Netherlands), not part of the discography? Black1Night 13:44, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I believe it would be under Sergio Mendes' discography, if anything, since if I'm not mistaken, the BEPs have only collaborated with him for Timeless, which was released under his name.

I think that blacked eyed peas would have gone no where with out fergie. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.207.113.77 (talk) 10:25, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Title of article

Why is this article called "Black Eyed Peas", when it should be "The Black Eyed Peas"?

Please see the newest album covers and change the article title! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Diamon (talkcontribs) 14:58, 21 October 2007 (UTC)

R & B

I'm thinking of including this as a genre. Does anyone agree with me? Thundermaster367 16:05, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

HELLO?!?!

Am I wrong, or did Fergie ditch Will.i.am and the other losers a long time ago for a SOLO career?!?!?!?!?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.76.12.197 (talk) 15:14, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

You don't have to leave a group to go solo. 50 Cent didn't leave G-Unit and he is solo. Lil' Wayne was solo when he was with the Hot Boyz. Paul Stanley is still with KISS and he went solo. Just goes to show how much people know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.96.86.112 (talk) 02:48, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
