Comoros, Djibouti, and Somalia[edit]

I propose to do this edit: [1]. Motivation: Comoros, Djibouti, and Somalia are member states of the Arab League, but are not mainly inhabited by people with an Arab identity and most of the population has not been Arabized. @M.Bitton and Skitash: Aldij (talk) 13:24, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I concur with this change, but you'll have to clarify that it uses the minimum definition of the Arab world which does not include the countries in question (the sources are in Arab world). Skitash (talk) 13:26, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Those countries are described as being part of the Arab world. Do you have reason to believe that they aren't? M.Bitton (talk) 13:37, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Only in wider definition: The Arab world is at its minimum defined as the 19 states where Arabs form at least a plurality of the population. At its maximum it consists of the 22 members of the Arab League, an international organization, which on top of the 19 plurality Arab states also includes the Comoros, Djibouti and Somalia. Aldij (talk) 13:53, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is what is stated in the lead of the Comoros article: "it is the only country in the Arab world which is entirely in the Southern Hemisphere". M.Bitton (talk) 13:56, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That was not entirely correct, fixed there, thank you for spotting. Aldij (talk) 14:11, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wasn't incorrect, so your change wasn't warranted. M.Bitton (talk) 14:41, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Different types of Arab identity[edit]

I propose to do this edit: [2]. Arab identity can be described as consisting of many interconnected parts: racial (based on the genealogy), national, religious, cultural, linguistic etc. There are sections for them. All of them are ethnic identities, differing on which source of group identity is emphasized to define membership. The separate section 'Ethnic' is not needed, as all types are already covered in their respective sections. @M.Bitton and Skitash: Aldij (talk) 13:33, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree. The Arab ethnicity is complex and that section (an attempt at explaining it) is there for that reason. M.Bitton (talk) 13:37, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but his should be on top of the Arab_identity#Categories, not as a separate subsection. Do you agree with this version: [3]? Aldij (talk) 13:57, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean it should titled "ethnicity"? M.Bitton (talk) 14:02, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As for me the section name 'Categories' is fine. Maybe 'Types' is better though. Aldij (talk) 14:04, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please refrain from changing it without proper consensus. As for me, I suggest we wait for further input from others. M.Bitton (talk) 14:41, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think this section is fine as it currently stands. Skitash (talk) 14:55, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
