Untitled[edit]

There is erroneous information on the page of Adele aus der Ohe. She was never married to Anton Seidl - she never married. She was born February 11, 1861 and died December 8, 1937. Adele debuted in America on December 23, 1886. She played Tchaikovsky's premier of his Pathetique Symphony in October of 1893. My source of information is a new book by Leon, LaWayne, The Untold Story of Adele aus der Ohe, From a Liszt Student to a Virtuoso, (Beaver's Pond Press, 2012) ISBN: 978-1-59298-464-0. I am very new to doing any edits and did not know how to do them properly, hence Wikipedia removed them. However, that does not make them any less erroneous.

Title move[edit]

Prepositional: aus der, not Aus der. Wanna change it, accordingly. Krenakarore TK 21:01, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, but needs an admin. I fixed sort, it's Ohe, the rest is preposition, capital only when at the beginning of a sentence. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:10, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
But if we refer to her by surname as "a/Aus der Ohe" - and not just "Ohe" - does it make sense for her to be sorted in the O's rather than the A's? -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 21:31, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Do you sort Beethoven B or V? To my understanding, the prepositions don't count. We might say Ohe, actually, as we just say Beethoven, not "Van Beethoven", --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 8 December 2014 (UTC)--Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:37, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
But we don't say "Ohe". We say "aus der Ohe". Bringing in Beethoven is a red herring, as we never refer to him as "van Beethoven". Maybe the Dutch sort Vincent van Gogh under G for Gogh, but in the anglo world he's always "van Gogh", never just "Gogh", so he gets sorted under V for van and not G for Gogh. Same rationale for Adele aus der Ohe. -- Jack of Oz [pleasantries] 22:07, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You are right about the sort of Nederlands for "Gogh, Vincent Van", German the same. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:38, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Moved. I can't find the policy page regarding sorting, but I am pretty sure the "aus der" is indeed treated like a "von" or "van" and that she is correctly defaultsorted under "O". Yngvadottir (talk) 08:21, 9 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
