The 2024 Melbourne City Council election will be held in October 2024 to elect nine councillors and a leadership team (consisting of a lord mayor and deputy lord mayor) to the City of Melbourne. The election will be held as part of the statewide local government elections in Victoria, Australia.[1]
Incumbent lord mayor Sally Capp announced on 28 March 2024 that she would not seek re-election.[2]
Candidates[edit]
In February 2024, former senator Derryn Hinch announced he would run for lord mayor. However, one month later he withdrew due to the cost of running a campaign.[3]
Perennial candidate Gary Morgan will contest the lord mayoral election.[4]
