This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Ahecht (talk | contribs) at 00:12, 3 April 2024 (→‎Uncontroversial technical requests: done 1). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

I can see three different spellings of his name in various sources from multiple countries: Boáz, Bo'az, and Boaz. Deciding which one is correct requires some more evidence. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 15:55, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Siege of Leningrad  Blockade of Leningrad (currently a redirect back to Siege of Leningrad) (move · discuss) – I propose to rename the main article to the "Blockade of Leningrad" instead of redirecting because it`s widely known in Soviet and later Russian historiography as the "blockade" (Russian: Блокада Ленинграда). Besides, here in countries of the former Soviet Union every family call it the "blockade" not the "siege" (especially those who survived). As there are many archive documents written in Russian, it`s rare to meet the term "siege". It can be confusing for researchers. Borisenko-ru (talk) 13:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    It's not relevant what term is used in Russian sources. This is the English Wikipedia, so the name should be based on what term English sources use. Bensci54 (talk) 16:30, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    If so, there will be no redirect page Borisenko-ru (talk) 20:37, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    No doubt this is a good faith request, and probably that is the correct name in Russian, but I feel like this request has no chance of succeeding. The name siege of Leningrad is I think well-attested in sources for this major historical event, and it leads the proposed title in book hits: [1]. Anyway, whichever way you look at it, it's not an Uncontroversial request.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:13, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    @Borisenko-ru It's obvious this move is potentially controversial. If you wish to pursue it, please click on the "discuss" link in your submission to open a discussion on the article's talk page. --Ahecht (TALK
