    New roles and guides!
At Wikimania there were many enthusiastic people jumping at the chance to help out the Medical Translation Project, but unfortunately not all of them knew how to get started. That is why we've been spending considerable time writing and improving guides! They are finally live, and you can find them at our home-page!
    New sign up page!
We're proud to announce a new sign up page at WP:MTSIGNUP! The old page was getting cluttered and didn't allow you to specify a role. The new page should be easier to sign up to, and easier to navigate so that we can reach you when you're needed!

Hello, Hordaland! I am a new wikipedia user, username:Murphyant, doing a small English project for an undergraduate course where we make a small contribution to wikipedia. I am working on a small section that I plan to add to the Circadian Rhythms page under the section: Human Health. I noticed that you are a major contributor to this article, and I was hoping you could take a look at my sandbox where I am currently working on this and give me any feedback that would help me fit my writing to the style of wikipedia - or just flat out tell me anything I am doing wrong. Here's my sandbox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Murphyant/sandbox Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Murphyant (talkcontribs) 19:02, 9 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Murphyant, sorry I'm late getting back to you. I see you didn't sign your comment above. It's easy to do. Just click on the pencil icon at the top of the edit box or type four tildes (~) in a row. Sign your comments on Talk pages, not within articles, of course.
I've just questioned user:Jaaron95 on his talk page, asking why he reverted your edit to the article Circadian rhythm; it looks good to me, though I can only access the abstract. (If you have the full text, I'd love to have it! You can e-mail me. See left margin here: Tools, "Email this user".)
Looking at your sandbox:
The word nocturia needs to be wikilinked.
Remove space(s) preceding reference(s). (I fixed one.)
Multiple sclerosis should always have small (lower case) s in sclerosis and lower case m when it is within a sentence.
Regarding "associated with abnormal circadian rhythms in body temperature", I'd replace " in" with "of" or possibly "of the".
Couldn't the content of sub-section "Disruption" rather be integrated into the section(s) above?
"Administering Ghrelin to patients daily" --> lower case ghrelin.
These pages are relevant WP:MEDMOS and WP:MEDRS; you may have looked at them already. There are medical editors who do NOT like primary sources and they (try to) insist on secondary sources such as reviews. Your source(s) may be questioned or deleted by some editors.
Comparing to the article Circadian rhythm, I think your planned addition is a very good idea. You have wikilinked only terms that were not wikilinked before. The above suggestions may improve your efforts somewhat, but I think you've done a great job here! I hope you continue to contribute to Wikipedia in future!--Hordaland (talk) 16:26, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, you might want to look at the way I've fixed your Zelinski reference in the article. You had written/pasted the same ref three times, so it got shown as 3 different references in the list at the bottom. I've fixed it so that there is just one Zelinski ref in the list, pointing back to 3 places in the article; 46a,b,c. --Hordaland (talk) 18:39, 12 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

THANK YOU @Doc James: but if I am one of the 300, I'd say we need more medical editors! Happy Rare Disease Day! --Hordaland (talk) 17:44, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes definitely :-) Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 18:34, 29 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

I wondered how many page watchers a particular article has, clicked on Page watchers in the column to the left and got a 404. Tried a couple more pages and got only 404.

Edit history stats also gives 404.

Traffic stats actually works!

Page watchers and Edit history stats should be removed from all pages if these functions aren't in order. To whom shall I address this matter (or will you?)?

Hordaland (talk) 17:19, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I just found a work-around: for Jet lag it is here. However, that requires some digging and is not sufficient. Thanks, --Hordaland (talk) 17:36, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Hordaland: Can you give me an exact set of steps to reproduce the issue? As well as which skin you're using and a list of gadgets you have enabled? The link to "page information" appears to work for me, however; a gadget or other configuration change could be messing with that. ~ Matthewrbowker Drop me a note 17:40, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Hordaland: I've figured it out, never mind. You appear to have loaded User:Smith609/toolbox.js, which contains the links you mention. The domains https://wikidashboard.appspot.com/enwiki/wiki/ and http://toolserver.org/~mzmcbride/watcher/ appear to be no longer functional. I can point you to toollabs:xtools-articleinfo in the meantime, will that help? I would recommend contacting User:Smith609 to look into fixing those domains. ~ Matthewrbowker Drop me a note 17:53, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Matthewrbowker: I've used "Help me" before and am always impressed with how quickly the response comes. Thanks!
EDIT CONFLICT: I'll add my text here, in case it will be needed. (Don't want to have to do it over.) THEN I will study your last message, but must eat dinner first; it's half past 8 here.  :)
Steps to reproduce (for me): at any article, left-click on "Page watchers".
"Skin" & "gadgets" are Greek to me, but I'll try. ('Twould be nice if you could access my Preferences, but I s'pose you can't. I haven't changed anything there for years, I think.) I should admit that I now and then get a quick look at some kind of warning telling me something's wrong. It, too, is Greek to me and it disappears almost instantly. That may well be my problem...
Skin is apparently Vector. Under Gadgets:
  • Browsing
  • Focus the cursor in the search bar on loading the Main Page
  • Navigation popups: article previews and editing functions pop up when hovering over links
  • Open external links in a new tab or window
  • Print options: control how pages are printed (for example, remove images or backgrounds)
  • Enable the Teahouse "Ask a question" feature
  • Reference Tooltips: hover over inline citations to see reference information without moving away from the article text
  • FormWizard: a wizard for creating and expanding project pages
  • 'Watchlist
  • Geonotice: display notices on your watchlist about events in your region
  • (This loads the base style for the watchlist. Please do not disable this option.)
  • Display pages on your watchlist that have changed since your last visit in bold (see customizing watchlists for more options)
  • Editing
  • wikEdDiff: improved diff view between article versions (not needed if wikEd is used)
  • Form for filing disputes at the dispute resolution noticeboard
  • CharInsert: add a toolbar under the edit window for quickly inserting wiki markup and special characters (troubles?)
  • refToolbar: add a "cite" button to the editing toolbar for quick addition of commonly used citation templates
  • Appearance
  • Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page
  • Add a clock to the personal toolbar that displays the current time in UTC and provides a link to purge the current page
  • Replace the "new section" tab text with "+"
  • Change UTC-based times and dates, such as those used in signatures, to be relative to local time (documentation)
  • Show radio buttons to switch between views of certain content, such as some maps
  • SidebarTranslate: display sidebar language links in English
  • Mark navigation links to featured (Monobook-bullet-star.png) and good (Monobook-bullet-ga.png) articles in other languages
Hope I got all that right. Thanks, again. --Hordaland (talk) 18:35, 25 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Hello and thank you very much! I don't know much about Wikipedia, but I experienced that my edits got vandalised much more frequently when I did have a username, a couple of years ago! God Pinse! :) PS. I wrote about half the article called "Norwegian Empire", do you like that article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.231.182 (talk) 17:25, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, there's still a lot of work to be done to that article. I know a lot of Norwegian history, but I know little about how Wikipedia works and I've had other things to focus on. Hopefully I will get more time on my hands for this project. Gratulerer med dagen fra Oslo! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.208.231.182 (talk) 23:17, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
