This list might be better as a category. — goethean 19:40, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would not agree with that. The list seems just fine. Not everyone accept concept of a saint to be same or equal to a guru--Wikidas (talk) 21:20, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not all saints are gurus(teachers), just as not all gurus are saints. Though some are both, and we are blessed because of them! (Ekabhishek (talk) 07:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Some are called saints by their own followers, but condemned by others. It's a bit more clear whether somebody is a guru, but a guru can be a caste guru or a teacher of music, etc. --Simon D M (talk) 17:47, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

per Wikipedia:Verifiability I will be removing all unreferenced names from this list soon, please name your source if you do not want your guru delisted.Syama (talk) 07:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally I think this list should be two list Guru's and SaintsSyama (talk) 07:20, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name

After an undiscussed page move to "List of Hindu gurus", I've moved it back to "List of Hindu gurus and saints" because that is the criteria for the list. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 05:46, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Classical Acharyas

IMHO, Sankara, Madhva, Ramanuja, Nimbarka, Valabha, and Chaitanya, should be mentioned as classical acharyas at the top in a different category. Aupmanyav (talk) 05:05, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Criteria for inclusion on the list

It is beyond human capacity to judge the greatness of Saints. Paramahansa Yogananda also mentions in his Biography that all saints and holy places should be respected equally. However it is needed to somehow form a list of Hindu Guru's and Saints. The suggestion is therefore that the list should contain those Saints from Hinduism which were (are) described as self-realized by their Guru and other saints. Yes, good point. So, I am removing the name of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, since he heads a non-profit called the Art of Living and does not have a Guru. Brahmavid (talk) 21:56, 25 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
