The third battle of Urozhaine started around 1 May 2024, when Russian forces advanced into the southern part of the village.
Background[edit]
During the first phase of the war, Russian forces occupied the village of Urozhaine and its surroundings in the first battle.[4] However, during the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive, it was one of several settlements that saw heavily concentrated fighting as it was seen as a point of great strategic value.[5] The village was defended soley by the Vostok Brigade despite it's strategic importance.[6] Ukrainian forces entered the settlement on 10 August[7] and the 35th Marine Brigade together with 38th Separate Marine Brigade fully liberated it on 16 August 2023.[8][9]
Battle[edit]
On 1 May 2024, Russian milbloggers reported that Russian forces managed to enter the southern part of Urozhaine, with the claim being confirmed by the ISW. On 8 May 2024, it was reported that Russian forces have advanced up to central parts of the village.[10]
