Links to draft articles

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Chinese characters and Collation. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 11:01, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stroke-based sorting article

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia! jengod (talk) 05:37, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

July 2023

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Chinese word-segmented writing. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Deauthorized. (talk) 01:22, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The old article was a draft, and I did not submit it.
Still need to use move?
Thanks Ctxz2323 (talk) 07:01, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ctxz2323: It's alright, an administrator merged the page history for the draft and the article, so no further action is needed. Just do remember next time that you can move the page to main-space via the move page function. Thanks for your help here! Deauthorized. (talk) 15:55, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, and thanks for your help. Ctxz2323 (talk) 00:50, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Modern Chinese characters for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Modern Chinese characters is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Modern Chinese characters until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.

Walt Yoder (talk) 03:34, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I already replied a bunch at the AfD, but if your article is kept in mainspace (which still looks likely; good luck!), it might set people's minds at ease to add {{under construction}} at the top, and {{empty section}} to the sections without content. That should let everyone who doesn't bother checking the history know that you're actively working on the article. Folly Mox (talk) 02:59, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Good idea!
Many thanks! Ctxz2323 (talk) 06:35, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

The Original Barnstar
For creating numerous articles on the Chinese language and writing system. (And especially for referencing Chinese language sources that are not widely accessible to English speakers) BillHPike (talk, contribs) 16:38, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!
Is the star really for me? If yes, how can I display it on my user page? Ctxz2323 (talk) 01:22, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the Barnstar is for you.
There are many ways to display on your user page. My preference is to just copy the entire barnstar wikitext to a section ::of my userpage. See User:BillHPike#Barnstars.

Hi Ctxz2323. You new article, Chinese character internal structures, is missing a cite for "Yin 2004". There "Yin 2007" and "Peking University 2004", but no "Yin 2004". If this isn't a typo could you add the cite or let me know what work this refers to? -- LCU ActivelyDisinterested transmissions °co-ords° 13:33, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

New message to Ctxz2323

Hey! I just wanted to remind you I really appreciate all the new sourcing and content you're bringing to the chinese language articles. there are a few style things i am noticing that you might wanna be aware of! i would recommend perusing the WP:Manual of Style generally if you have the inclination, but there's a few things, like MOS:NOTE with regard to tone, that are generally gonna be copyedited away! i hope this helps you some, i can't imagine writing this much in a second language :) Remsense 07:17, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I will read the documents carefully.
I got my PhD in UK, and have published a number of academic papers in English. However, I am still new in wiki, and second language is not as good as first language. Your help is heartedly appreciated! Ctxz2323 (talk) 07:44, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh goodness, I'm sorry if that came off as condescending! Without equivocation, I really appreciate your work. :) Remsense 08:25, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know you are kind-hearted. And indeed there is large space for me to improve my wiki writing. Ctxz2323 (talk) 09:52, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Happy cooperation and best regards! Ctxz2323 (talk) 09:57, 25 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia. FireflyBot (talk) 03:05, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to Chinese character information processing. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and not ready for the mainspace. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 13:51, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Chinese character IT into Modern Chinese characters. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 15:03, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The section in Modern Chinese characters is a detailed summary of Chinese character IT, a page I have recently created as a subtopic article, which is at least three times longer than the section.
Thanks for your attention. Ctxz2323 (talk) 23:57, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(Just so you know, these notices are often made as the result of (semi-)automated sweeps, so don't worry about it, you're not doing anything at all questionable in this instance.) Remsense 01:33, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, now I fill much better. Ctxz2323 (talk) 01:36, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will explain it a different way. It's okay to copy from one Wikipedia article to another, but when you do so, you need to provide attribution. This is done by saying in your edit summary that the material was copied, and where you got it. Please have a look at this edit summary for an example of how it is done. Please let me know if you have any questions, or have a look at WP:Copying within Wikipedia for more information. Thanks, — Diannaa (talk) 10:51, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I will pay more attention to it. Ctxz2323 (talk) 13:42, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requesst for re-rating

Article Modern Chinese characters was rated as Stub-class when some sections were still empty. Now they are all filled with contents, and a re-rating will be much appreciated.

By the way, we have been working very hard on the article for over 7 months since its creation in May.

Thanks for your attention and Happy the coming Christmas! Ctxz2323 (talk) 03:07, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
