Just got off the phone with a VS data tech. I was complaining about
not being able to get a CSD data connection on my T68i (r2f) while
GPRS works fine. This is with the $5 data option.

He said that is a problem with the T68! Anybody comment about this?

Well, I just did it today , so I know for a fact it works, im in Austin,TX,
but I doubt its a area issue. Here are the settings I used for the CSD
connection on my T68i
For the new data account:
--HSCSD (Circuit Switched Data for WAP in Areas Without GPRS Access)
---Type (Asked on creation): CSD or GSM
---Save, then edit the following:
---Phone number: +19132440821
---User id: wap
---Password:
---Passwd. Request: Off
---Data rate: 9.6 kbits/s
---Dial type: ISDN
---DNS Address:

and for the new wap profile

--HSCSD
---Chg Homepage Name: HSCSD T-Zone
---Chg Homepage Address: wap.myvoicestream.com
---Connect Using: HSCSD
---IP Address: 10.168.200.50
---User id: wap
---Password:
---Data mode: Connecton less
---Rest default

This works perfectly on my phone .

No - Milwaukee. And i followed your CSD 'instructions' to a 't' - no
go.

What data plan are you on? Could it be my $5 thing is screwing
something up? I get as far as 'Verifying', and then nothing more.
Again, GPRS works fine.

Thanks...

rick

<SNIP>
HSCSD(High Speed Circuit-Switched Data) is not available on VS's network.

My CSD instructions? Hmmm...I don't remember posting any, but I could be
wrong.

I have the exact same problem you do on my T68. BUT, I also have the same
problem on my Nokia 8390. To me, this eliminates that the problem is unique
to the T68.

I am in milwaukee and i am also having issues also. I used to have a 414
telephone number. I changed it to a chicago 630 number. Before the change it
worked fine. Once i changed the number to 630 i lost it. From what i can
tell i can only use the dial up gsm in chicago. If i am in chicago it works
great. In milwaukee i cannot use it. I am starting to think i cannot use it
in milwaukee either because of a network issue or because i have a 630
chicago number.

For what it's worth, VS has all sorts of issues when it comes to cross-area
code services. Like I'm from the 469 area code, but work in the 215, and
this used to cause all sorts of VM issues.

They've fixed it now.
