Q:
Is this restaurant handicap accessible?
A:
They do have handicap parking in the front of the restaurant, however inside the restaurant is a little tight on table space. So if there's a wheelchair involved it might be a little hard to get around.

The diner vibe, with friendly service - always a win.
I have been here many times, mostly many years ago, but now with this deliciously dangerous spot down the street - you can bet we will be picking up pies on a regular basis.
We have not tried too many of the pies thus far - but when our server described the Bayou the first time we ate at House of Pies together, we knew we were sold. We never visit without getting the Bayou and I hiiiiighly recommend it.
The Dutch Apple was similarly amazing despite a totally different pie make. The crust, the crystallized sugar, the apple pieces - just perfect.
We will be coming again, and I can't wait to dine in again in the future.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jennifer L.Houston, TX01822Dec 9, 2023
I have been coming here a few times a year since moving here 4 years ago. It's a typical, breakfast-all-day type of diner that reminds me of the diners I used to stop in when I was young in the 80's and road traveling with my mom. You will be instantly hit with the nostalgia because the interior is still in the same style, brown vinyl booths and all.
The food is consistently good for this type of place. My son and I typically stick to diner basics like breakfast and sandwiches, but their menu is pretty extensive and like the name implies, they have a FULL pie selection and case at the front. I've had the club sandwich, Acapulco omelet and scramble platter (good either way), and my son loves their Belgian waffles. I like their selection of sides that include things like fruit and cottage cheese if you are looking to lighten it up a bit. My only criticism is that they are sometimes too heavy handed with mayo or sauces on sandwiches which can easily be remedied by requesting it on the side.
We came today around 4 and were waited on John N. Super friendly guy, kept the drinks full and gave recommendations on taking a slice of pie home. The food was also at the table in less than 15 minutes from being seated, hot and fresh.
Is this the nicest brunch establishment in Houston? No. Will you sometimes wait longer than I did today when they are busy? Probably. But it's solid enough that it's been a fixture for decades and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I haven't taken a photo anytime I've been, but trust me when I say that this is a solid choice when someone in your party wants breakfast and the others do not.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 23, 2023
Came here at 2pm on a Saturday the weekend of the Beyonce concert with my 4 friends and this place wasn't busy at all. We requested to sit at a table in the corner but they told us no because it was for parties of 6 or more.
The table we sat at was only set for two people. We wanted 4 crafts of mimosas (serves 4) but the manager only let us order one at a time even though I explained I have a food allergy. The server was a little weird about checking our IDs. We are all 27 and older but it was like the server didn't believe our birth date on our IDs. So we got one cranberry craft mimosa and it was really good. It was very strong. I ordered a coffee but had to ask for cream and sugar. The cream came in a metal container they gave me from another table I'm not sure how long it sat out.
The portion sizes are good for the price. My friend really liked her aculpulo. My friends got their orders mixed up with the sauces. The second time she got her food back it still wasn't correct but she didn't want to fuss anymore. My friend's pancakes broke apart too easily and my other friend said her chicken and waffles were okay but not nasty by any means. My biscuits were a little dry but they have jelly. My friend's beans were bland. We wanted desert but they put pecans in all the cookies.
Long story short, come for the strong ass mimosas. Be prepared to be forced to buy food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 26, 2023
I like coming to this diner for their breakfast when I don't feel like cooking and want something simple. The staff is nice and quick to seat ya. Some eggs, bacon, & grits is all I need. Once I came before covid and they had this spinach soup that was so good.

Great breakfasts and friendly service each time I've stopped in. The pies are great and we love to get them for special occasions.

I have to preface this with, I have always loved House of Pies since moving to Houston. This location, however, has really gotten run down. The booth for 6+ people I was in was ripped and had sharp chunks of wood sticking out from it. The wait staff may have been new, but my group had to repeatedly ask for the rest of our drinks, orders, and pies to be brought out, and the wait was pretty long for what was ordered.
I loved my chicken pot pie, and the strawberry rhubarb pie is consistently amazing (and impossible to find in the south outside of House of Pies). Overall, I think more staffing, a bit of a face lift to the eating areas, and I would gladly give higher reviews!Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Edra Y.Houston, TX563397Jul 6, 2023
I always come to the house of pies for their cakes, which are amazing. Today we decided to eat breakfast, and let me tell you it did not disappoint.
I had the Benedict Florentine and it was the best Benedict I've ever had. Not kidding. The eggs were runny and fluffy and perfect. The veggies were fresh and you could tell. I had a side of Turkey sausage and it was juicy and had lots of flavor.
The chicken fried steak was crispy and the coating has a good spice and taste. The gravy was excellent.
Our service was great as well. Our waitress was kind and attentive. She must have been working there for a while because the moment my coffee was empty she was right there to refill it.
I think the best part of eating here is that when we left we felt great. Not too full and in a food coma, after all we ate we just satisfied stomachs. I'll credit that to all the freshness of their food.
We can't wait to be back for another breakfast. Maybe next time we will order some sweets to go.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Dec 3, 2023
If you are a Houstonian or from neighboring surrounding cities/towns then you know House of Pies is synonymous with late night meals and That 70's show restaurant decor. They have three locations in Houston and one in Katy that I know of and each location the hours vary so be cognizant of the time because the cooks do. The portions are Texas size so be forewarned. You have the choice for breakfast to dinner plate, everything in between and do not forget it is the House of Pies so you have a selection of huge slices of sweet delights. If you are visiting Houston, House of Pies is one location to check off your bucket list.

I've had almost everything on the menu from salad to burgers and of course breakfast. Pies are out of this world! Bayou Goo and Strawberry Rhubarb are my favorites. Super friendly waitstaff and old school diner type vibe.

Decor is old, outdated, dark and crowded. Better servers, hosts, and food at Waffle House but pies are yummy. I get a chocolate cheesecake slice every couple months and it is soooo good. My husband just picked up a strawberry cheesecake for our daughter's 18th birthday couple weeks ago and it was devoured by the five of us within a couple of days. My daughter loved that they did use fresh strawberries also.
